Cell Phone Policy

Purpose

Franchisees are responsible for upholding Roti's operational standards and maintaining a safe, professional, and guest-focused environment. This policy establishes clear expectations for personal cell phone use to prevent distractions, support food safety, and enhance team productivity in all franchise restaurant locations.

1. Personal Cell Phone Use Is Prohibited During Work Hours

Franchisees must ensure that employees do not use personal cell phones while on the clock, except during scheduled breaks. Phones should be stored in designated secure areas (e.g., lockers or break rooms) and must not be carried on the line or in guest-facing areas during active shifts.

2. Designated Break Times for Personal Use

Team members may use their phones only during approved breaks and in non-service areas. Any unauthorized phone use during shifts should be addressed through the appropriate corrective action process.

3. No Phones in Food Prep or Service Areas

To maintain health and safety compliance, franchisees must strictly prohibit cell phones in food preparation, cooking, and front-of-house areas. This includes any form of device usage such as texting, browsing, calling, or using smartwatches. Enforcing this guideline protects food integrity and guest experience.

4. Emergency Contact Procedure

In case of emergencies, family members or outside parties should contact the restaurant's main phone line. It is the responsibility of the franchisee and management team to ensure employees are notified promptly. Employees who need to make urgent personal calls must request permission from a supervisor and step away from service areas to a private space.
